It seems that as soon as I am finished creating my growth dividend watch list I get excited to make my monthly purchase.  This Month after running through my screen I ended up with the following stocks to look at:

  • AFLAC Inc. AFL
  • Chesapeake Financial Shares CPKF
  • Community Trust Banc. CTBI
  • Eagle Financial Services EFSI
  • First Financial Corp. THFF
  • T. Rowe Price Group TROW
  • Target Corp. TGT
  • UGI Corp. UGI
  • Wal-Mart Stores Inc. WMT
  • Northeast Indiana Bancorp NIDB
  • McGrath Rentcorp MGRC

I had my usual $500 plus $163 of income from selling puts.  At the time of purchase Aflact had:

  • A P/E of 11.9 vs 13.5 industry average
  • Operating margin of 18.5% vs 9.8 industry average
  • Price to Book of 1.3 vs 1.1 industry average
  • Yield of 227%
  • Payout Ratio of 26.6%

The only hesitation I had was that AFL is really close to its 52 week high ($72/share vs $74).  While I tend to buy towards 52 week lows the only stocks out of the above list that were even close were TROW and TGT and I bought them in previous months.  I do not currently own any AFL but I have done very well with the stock in the past (buying years ago, but selling prior to the start of my new account and this site).

On 9/9/2016 I bought 10 shares at 72.9248 which will increase my income by about $16.
